Of casual sexism…

I know my Value!!

I am sexist. Deep down inside, I have always been sexist. The awareness of this introspective fact has come only a couple of years ago. Since then, I try my best to not treat sexism callously, and to correct myself whenever I feel I am wrong. I take pride in calling myself a feminist.

Though I have realized that most of the world treats the word ‘feminist’ as negative since they believe that feminists hate men. That is untrue. Feminists believe in gender equality and equal opportunities for boys and girls.

I will speak up for a little boy’s right to wear pink as much as I will speak up for a little girl’s right to play street cricket.

Sadly, I often come across examples of sexism so carelessly and deeply rooted in our system and vocabulary, it shocks me to the core. And more often than not, I have…

Liebster Award..!!

Hey guys!

So I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Gul-e-Zehra’s blog! Just in case you don’t know, the Liebster award is an award given to bloggers in order to get to know them better. Any blogger who is reading this is tagged! 🙂

1. When and why did you start you blog?
I started this blog a year ago. Had I asked myself this question couple of years back as to why I write, I wouldn’t have given a reasonable answer. However as for now, my answer is that it’s my clearest form of communication, a way to vent out my feelings; a way to give words to all the emotions and thoughts that reside within.

2. What do you find the most challenging in blogging?
To increase followers and views. 😦 Moreover, sometimes I’m unable to vividly express what I want to say, that’s the challenging part.

3. What is your favorite post you’ve blogged about?
The one I wrote about the most important person in my life: My dad!

My Hero

4. Where do you want to see yourself in the next 5 years?
I am driven to be the best at what I do and I want to work somewhere where I’ll have opportunities to develop my skills, take on interesting projects, and work with people I can really learn from. Apart from this, I wish to be a successful blogger!

5. If you were to choose only one Makeup Brand to use for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Ahh! That’s a difficult one as I’m not a makeup freak. Anyhow, it would be Maybelline or Revlon Products.

6. What are the three important goals of your life?

  • Write and publish a book.
  • Visit New York City.
  • Help 10 people accomplish a life goal.

7. Who is your favorite fashion designer and why?
There are many but as for now Zara Shahjahan for her trendy designs and high street casual fashion.

8. What three products/items are in your bag/purse right now?
A lot of things though but as you said three: My phone, wallet & lip balm.

9. Which country would you like to spend the rest of your life in and why?
There are too many to share, but one of my dream cities is Paris (Cuz of Eiffel Tower, of-course). Paris fulfils language dreams plus the allure of living in Europe is just too high 😛

10. Your advice for new bloggers.

  • “Making millions from blogging,” isn’t a good reason to start and you probably will get discouraged.
  • Make sure you’re reading, people!
  • Blog about your personal experiences. Don’t just rehash what someone else is blogging about.
  • Variety is the Spice of Life!

Nestle Start Healthy Stay Healthy Blogger Meet

“The first 1000 days of life are a critical period to supporting optimal growth and development in children and protecting them from lifestyle diseases in later life.”

Better nutrition can have a life-changing impact on a child’s future and have a real influence on how they develop, grow and learn — not just now, but for his or her whole life.

12th September 2015, KARACHI: Nestlé Pakistan organized a blogger meet at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi under its initiative ‘Start Healthy, Stay Healthy’.

The event was organized to raise awareness of the importance of nutrition in the first 1,000 days of a child’s life. Dr. Huma Fahim who is Medical Advisor in Nestlé Nutrition gave the audience an informative presentation, which was followed by an interactive quiz.

Waqar Ahmad, the Head of Corporate Affairs, said, “Nestlé has an expertise in nutrition and believes it has a responsibility to share that expertise. We want to promote better health through good nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life. Research shows that children who don’t get proper nutrition in their early years can’t fully develop their physical and cognitive potential and are at an increased risk of poor health as adults.”

Well known blogger Rabeeyah Tungekar said, “It was an informative event, which helped & educated me about how first 1000 days of a child is important. Not only it was helpful for myself, but it helped me to pass on the knowledge to a lot of women, especially un-educated ones & help them in raising a healthy child.”

Mishalle Hira, CEO of Rah e Mashal, said, “The knowledge that was spread through this awareness campaign is what is required by every human being entering adolescence. I hope that as this programme takes a step forward they would involve different schools, universities, teachers and NGO representatives to help spread the much required knowledge.”

Some of the facts about Pakistan which were shared are

  • 80% of stunted children live in just 14 countries and Pakistan is ranked third
  • Pakistan is 9th most obese country in the world
  • Pakistan is 3rd globally in Chronic Malnutrition
  • Above 40% of children in Pakistan are suffering from iron deficiency
  • We’ve lost 4 inches of average human height in 5 decades in Pakistan
  • Pakistan lies amongst the top 14 countries that carry malnutrition diseases
  • In Pakistan every 3rd person is overweight
  • In Pakistan, 50% Children are facing malnutrition

 The pledge

The event was attended by prominent bloggers and key opinion influencers who all pledged to use their influence to raise awareness about the importance of nutrition in the First 1000 Days of a child’s life.

The BIGGEST lesson my father’s death taught me

I can relate to this ❤ Losing a loved one is terrible.

Of Organized & Twisted Chaos & What Nobody Talks About!

Today marks 31 days my father passed away. For the past 31 days my biggest struggles have been keeping my family and myself together, not letting the world break me and the most important one: not to turn into a cold person because that would hurt my father’s soul the most.

For the past 31 days I’ve had countless parts of me die for the moments of my father’s soul leaving his body keeps flashing right in front of my eyes. I haven’t been able to sleep properly because every single night I relive all those moments from that night. Even if I manage to sleep early (thanks to the sedatives) my eyes would pop open at 2 am, exactly the time it all began. Falling  asleep between 2:45 to 4:00 am seems impossible as that period holds the most scariest moments of my life where for the first time ever…
